Georgiou Group's July Safety Forum

Georgiou Group's July Safety Forum

It was an honour to assist Georgiou Group with "Why Safety Matters" (WSM) with the privilege of presenting WSM in Oakey as part of their July safety forum. With only a few months remaining on the project, Blair Stormon (Project Manager) and Gareth Davie (Construction Manager) recognised the value of WSM in fostering a strong safety culture and vigilance around complacency during the final stages.

The belief in the WSM initiative supports the commitment to ensuring a safe working environment for everyone involved. It was also an honour to bring my son CJ along to experience WSM for himself.

This presentation represents a family working in high risk work environments and being able to share my experiences with him was a moment we will both cherish. The trip home started plenty of conversations which I was able to openly share with him.

Georgiou Group has been awarded the contract to deliver the 2022 DRFA Flood Recovery Project (North) for the Toowoomba Regional Council in Queensland. This critical project aims to restore damaged roads and culverts in the Darling Downs region, following the devastating floods of late 2021 and 2022.

The scope of works includes:

  • Drainage, slope rehabilitation, and pavement works;
  • Desilting and repair of drainage structures;
  • Formation grading;
  • Extensive rectification works to approximately 518km of unsealed roads in flood-affected areas.

Thank you once again, Georgiou Group, for your dedication to safety and for allowing WSM to contribute to such a vital project. Together, we are making a meaningful impact!
