Closing the Chapter: Reflections on the Brisbane Metro Journey
Share
Last night marked my final shift on the Brisbane Metro project with Acciona Construction. After more than three years on this landmark project, from the early days of site setup at Inner City North to the tunnel excavations on Adelaide Street and the final stages of backend works, I’m officially hanging up my gear and stepping away from my career as a tunnel worker and underground electrician.
The Brisbane Metro project has transformed the city with a modern, efficient, and sustainable transport solution. It’s surreal to reflect on the journey, and I feel incredibly honoured to have been part of its construction. The milestones we achieved together as a team fill me with immense pride.
My time in this industry has pushed me in ways I never imagined. The challenges of working underground, the intense focus the job demanded, and the satisfaction of seeing our hard work take shape have shaped me profoundly. But more than anything, it’s the people I’ve met along the way who have left a lasting impression. The camaraderie, the shared struggles, and the collective determination to deliver something meaningful are what I’ll carry with me forever.
To everyone I’ve worked with and had the privilege of calling a friend, thank you. Your support, guidance, and friendship have meant the world to me.
As this chapter closes, I’m stepping into the next one with excitement. I look forward to collaborating with new teams, sharing the lessons I’ve learned, and continuing to contribute to this industry in a different capacity.
Wishing you all the best for what’s ahead. Let’s see what the future holds.
