Ernest Henry was honoured, as well as humbled, to have Dallas Adams present to the workforce about ‘Why safety matters’. Dallas spoke about the consequences of a workplace accident on your family and how important it is to create a safe environment for workers.

He described the tragic accidents of his only brother in 2004 in a mining accident and his father in 2017, who was struck by a pressurised water pipe while maintaining a water treatment plant on a major tunnelling project in Sydney. Although he expressed his pain by demonstrating how he believed the accidents played out, his intentions were clear – if we can learn from this and understand the importance of safe work practices, the industry will be better off.

Many Ernest Henry team members were moved and emotional as a result of Dallas’ story, and were enthusiastic to share the learnings with others across the business to ensure Evolution employees always work with care and are in control. To continue reinforcing Dallas’s message of ‘Why safety matters’ Ernest Henry reinvigorated a previous safety initiative and sent home a pack to all families for children to draw pictures of what they like to do with their loved one while they are on break. These drawings are now displayed across site as a reminder to all what is waiting for our people at home.
