Kicking Off WSM 2025 at the Coffs Harbour Bypass
I’d like to extend my gratitude to the Tunnelling Solutions Management and Safety Team for inviting "Why Safety Matters" to engage with the tunnelling crews on the Coffs Harbour Bypass a truly iconic infrastructure project. With a mix of experienced tunnellers and underground miners alongside a strong and diverse workforce, it was great to see how the three crews connected with the WSM message.
This project marks a significant step forward for regional infrastructure in New South Wales. The Coffs Harbour Bypass is a 14-kilometre four-lane highway, designed to significantly reduce congestion, improve road safety, and enhance travel efficiency along the Pacific Highway corridor. A key feature of this project is the three major tunnels at Roberts Hill, Shepherds Lane, and Gatelys Road each built to avoid the need for large-scale cuts through the surrounding landscape, protecting both the natural environment and the local community.
It was an honour to kick off the WSM 2025 campaign in such a stunning location, contributing to a project that will transform how people travel through Coffs Harbour while keeping safety at the forefront.
Looking forward to seeing the continued progress of this incredible project and keeping safety at the heart of Tunnelling Solutions operations!
